Arthur Orville Murray, Sr., 88, Enjoyed Reading & Boating

He was born on June 14, 1920 in Maloneton, KY and has been a Vermilion resident since 1958.
He worked as a sheet metal worker for Ford Motor Co. Lorain and a skilled trade rep. for Local Union #425 for 23 years, retiring in 1982.
He enlisted in the US Coast Guard the day after the attack on Pearl Harbor, serving during WWII he was on a support ship to the USS Missouri.
Arthur was a member and past master of the Masonic Ely Lodge #424 where he was a 32nd degree Mason. He was the Worthy Patron of the Eastern Stars for 2 terms, a life member of the Lorain County Royal Arch, a member of the American Legion Post #397, a charter and life member of the AMVETS Post #22 and VFW Post #7576. He enjoyed reading, boating, traveling, and spending winters in Ft. Myers, Florida.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Ethel (nee Bloomfield) Murray; his sons, Arthur (Mary) Murray, Jr. and Manford (Glenda) Murray both of Vermilion; a daughter, Beverly (Hanson) Stipe of Vermilion; 7 grandchildren: Joseph, Krystal, Michelle, Kimberly, David, James, and Christopher; 7 great grandchildren; brother, James Murray of Mt. Vernon; and sister, Evelyn Frailey of Lucasville, OH.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Manford and Eva (nee Adkins) Murray; sisters, Thelma Wagner, Janice Claycomb, Helen Johnson and Joanne Ayers and a brother, Donald Murray.
A time of fellowship and remembrance of Arthur's life will be on Saturday, April 25, 2009 from 1-4 pm at the Vermilion VFW # 7576, 7576 Poorman Rd., Vermilion, where the Vermilion Veterans Council will conduct military honors at 2 pm followed by the Ely Masonic Lodge # 424 conducting a masonic service.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions may be made to Golden Acres Nursing Home, Recreation department, 45999 North Ridge Road East, Amherst, Ohio 44001.
