Belvia ''Billie'' Kaylor, 76, Ford Retiree and Accomplished Cook

Photo of Belvia ''Billie'' Kaylor Belvia “Billie” Kaylor, (nee Taylor), age 76, of Lorain, died Monday April 20th, 2009 at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation following a brief illness.

She was born in Pike County, Kentucky on October 5th, 1932 and had been a resident of Lorain for many years. She had also spent an appreciable amount of time residing in Republic, Ohio.

Billie was employed as a production worker for Ford Motor Company’s Ohio Truck Plant in Avon Lake for fourteen years. She retired from there in 1988. She had previously been employed by the Sealcote Fabricating Company in Berea.

Ms. Kaylor was a member of the Christian Life Church of Lorain and was also a member of United Autoworkers Local # 2000. Regarded as an accomplished cook, Billie enjoyed sharing her expertise in the kitchen with relatives, friends, and neighbors. Additional interests included all forms of crafts, flower arranging, and gardening with a special emphasis on roses.

She is survived by daughters Eleanor “Ellie” Frederick of Tiffin, Deborah Fleming of Mansfield, and Pam Stratton of Lorain, by sons Jerry Quesenberry and Harold “Al” Adcox both of Lorain, four grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, sister Earlene Jacobs of Lorain, and brothers Benny Taylor of Lorain, Plennie Taylor of North Carolina, and James Taylor of Pike County, Kentucky.

She was preceded in death by her daughter Brenda Lee Smith in 1982, by a son Jimmy Adcox in 1977, by her parents Freeland and Fairy (nee Blackburn) Taylor, and by brothers Clyde and Leon Taylor.

Visitation will be Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain. Additional visitation will be Friday in the Christian Life Church, 3559 West Erie Avenue from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at 11:00 a.m. The Reverend Wallace Justice will officiate. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery, Lorain.
