Susan Ann Ritenauer, 76, Enjoyed Growing Flowers

Photo of Susan Ann Ritenauer Susan Ann “Suzie” Ritenauer, (nee Schnitzler), age 76, died peacefully in the company of her family on Wednesday April 22nd at the Life Care Center of Medina.

Suzie was born in Lorain on Jan. 20, 1933 and was a resident of Lorain County for many years prior to moving to Punta Gorda, Florida where she made her home for twenty-five years. She returned to Ohio in 2003 following the death of her husband.

Mrs. Ritenauer was a graduate of Lorain High School and was formerly employed as a secretary for Ed Mullinax Ford in Amherst. She was a member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lorain; in her free time she enjoyed growing beautiful flowers, playing cards with her grandchildren, and spending time with her family.

Survivors include her daughters Deborah Peck of Amherst, Mary Bakos of Elyria, and Kathleen Haupt of Lorain, sons Kenneth and Terry Heimann both of Kentucky, along with James Heimann of Sheffield Village, step-daughters Lori Ritenauer of California and Mary Kosakowski of Lorain, step-sons George E. Ritenauer, Jr. and Joseph Ritenauer both of Lorain, fourteen grandchildren, four great grandchildren, sister Doris Turner of Fairfax, Virginia, and brothers Bob Schnitzler of Vermilion and Don Schnitzler of Elyria.

She was preceded in death by her husband of twenty-eight years George E. Ritenauer, Sr., by her parents Robert and Leona (nee Carson) Schnitzler, by sisters Regina Fitzpatrick, Sally Yuhos, and Evelyn Schmitz, and by her brother Jack Schnitzler.

Friends may call Saturday from 1 p.m. until time of services at 4 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain. The Reverend Jimmy W. Madsen, Co-Pastor of First Evangelical Lutheran Church will officiate.

In lieu of flowers the family encourages memorial contributions to the First Evangelical Lutheran Church.
