Robert A. Tarney, 51, Auto Body Technician

He was born on Aug. 9, 1957 in Lorain and had been a resident of Elyria Township since 1972 after returning from Monroeville, Pennsylvania.
Mr. Tarney was a graduate of Elyria West High School where he was a varsity letterman on the school’s football team.
He was currently employed as an auto body technician for Kasper Motors in Sandusky; he had previously been employed at Ford Motor Company’s Ohio Truck Plant in Avon.
A member of the Knights of Columbus, he enjoyed boating and fishing. He was also an ardent fan of the Cleveland Browns, Indians, and Cavaliers.
Survivors include his companion of nearly eight years Debbie Baron of Amherst, his mother Audrey Tarney (nee Gargus) of Elyria Township, father Robert E. Tarney residing in Findlay, brothers Scott D. Tarney (wife Patti) of Galena, Ohio and Todd N. Tarney (wife Maria) of Sunbury, Ohio, along with nephews Tyler, Todd, and Mathew, and nieces Danielle and Alyssa.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Andrew and Marie Gargus
And paternal grandparents Burgess and Florence Tarney.
Visitation will be Monday from 4 p.m. until the time of a reflection service at 7 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain. Burial services for the family will take place at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.
