Ruth Marie Stauder, 93, Member of First Lutheran Church

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 47 years, Eugene (1987) and dear sisters, Betty Nueman and Marilyn Hess.

Ruth was born on July 12, 1915 in Sandusky, Ohio. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church where she was a choir member and Girl Scout troop leader. She graduated from Sandusky High School in 1933. She worked for the American Crayon Company in advertising until 1940. She married Eugene Stauder and moved to Lorain in 1940.

She was a member of First Lutheran Church where she was on Church Council, taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. She was a volunteer coordinator for Meals on Wheels with her husband. Ruth worked at Magic Chef in the shipping department and from there went on to work for the Toledo, Lorain Fairport Company, who operated the Lorain coal and ore docks. She retired in 1977 after twenty years of service. She also worked as a volunteer at Amherst Hospital, Lorain Community Hospital and the Lorain Free Clinic.

Ruth was a loving and devoted mother to Sally Stauder and Betsy Labos. Beloved grandmother "Nanny" to Amy Labos Hanratty (Kevin) and Tammy Labos Larsen (Keith). Cherished great-grandmother to Zack, Josh and Brynna Hanratty and Kaylee and Matthew Larsen. Ruth is also survived by nieces and nephew residing in Ohio, Louisiana and Wisconsin.

Family will receive friends Monday, April 27, 2009 from 4 - 7 p.m. at the Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home for Funerals, 1124 W. Fifth St., Lorain, OH 44052. A Celebration of Life service will be held at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 603 Washington Ave., Lorain, at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 28, 2009 with Rev. Jimmy Madsen and Rev. Dr. L. H. Chamberlain officiating. Interment will be at Ridge Hill Memorial Park in Amherst Township, OH.

Family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 603 Washington St., Lorain, OH 44052.
