Pauline J. Wood Ph.D., 86, Retired Biology Professor

She was born Nov. 7, 1922 in Springdale, PA.
She lived in Lavonia, Michigan, where she was a professor of biology at the University of Detroit. She was also chairman of the Biology Department. She retired in 1989 after 27 years.
She was a graduate of Adrian College in Michigan with a Bachelor of Science degree. She graduated with a PhD from the University of Michigan in 1960. She was a member of the Lavonia Civic Chorus and a member of the University of Detroit Professors Union where she had served as treasurer. She enjoyed reading.
She is survived by a brother, Richard Wood of Massena, New York and several nieces and nephews including Paula Deason, with whom she made her home during her stay in Vermilion.
She was preceded in death by her parents , Irene K. (nee Kapteina) and George Wood, and sisters, Irene McManigal and Eleanor Duncan.
Services are private and entrusted to the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion.
