William F. Gorman, 94, WW II Veteran of United States Army

Mr. Gorman was born in Revere, Massachusetts on April 27th, 1915. He was transferred to Lorain by the Ford Motor Company in 1958 and was a resident of the city until the time he moved to Sheffield Lake in 2006.
He was a World War II veteran of the United States Army where he fulfilled duty assignments as a Technician Fourth Grade attached to the 9200 Technical Service Unit in New Guinea and the Southern Philippines. He was the recipient of the Philippine Liberation Ribbon, the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon with two Service Stars, as well as the Good Conduct Medal.
Mr. Gorman was employed as a spot welder in the body shop of Ford Motor Company’s Lorain Assembly Plant; he retired from the automaker in 1977.
He was parishioner of the Catholic Church of Saint Peter in Lorain as well as United Autoworkers’ Local # 425. In his free time he enjoyed vegetable gardening.
Bill was recognized by friends and family as a loving husband, as well as a wonderful grandfather. He will be sadly missed by all whose lives he touched.
Survivors include daughters Carol Taylor of Pensacola, Florida, and Margaret Beegle of Sheffield Lake, nine grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, three great great grandchildren, along with one niece and two nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Blanche (nee Hefler) in 2003, by his daughter Joan Kerswell, by his son Edward Spencer, by two grandchildren, by his parents Jack J. and Margaret (nee Reagan) Gorman, by a Brother John H. Gorman Henry, by sisters Helen Fahey, Frances McGrath, as well as by two nieces.
Visitation will be Friday from 5 9 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain where funeral services will be Monday May 11th at 11 a.m. The Reverend Charles Henkle, O.F.M. Conv., Associate Pastor of the Church of St. Peter will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery where military honors will be conducted by the officers and members of Louis Paul Proy Chapter # 20 of the Disabled American Veterans.
