Mary D. Pittak, 88, Parishioner of Holy Trinity Church

Photo of Mary D. Pittak Mary D. Pittak, (nee Savel), age 88, of Lorain, died Wednesday May 6th, 2009 at the New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph following an extended illness.

She was born in Lorain on Feb. 10, 1921 and had been a life-long resident of the city.

She was a graduate of Lorain High School as a member of the class of 1938. Mrs. Pittak was employed as a seamstress for the former Weitz Clothing Company of Lorain. A parishioner of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, she enjoyed sewing, knitting, and gardening. Additional interests included solving word puzzles, attending flea markets, and cooking.

She was also devoted to her grand pups Pee Wee, Haley, and Abby, as well as to her pet cats Mindy, Margie, and Holly.

Mary is survived by her husband of sixty-one years Frank A. Pittak, daughter Else Pittak of Lorain, son Martin Pittak of Tallmadge, granddaughters Lauren and Nicole, and cousin Sofia Rigo of Lorain.

She was preceded in death by her parents Martin and Eleanor (nee Tkac) Savel, and by her sister Ann Mark.

A funeral mass will be conducted Wednesday May 13th at 10 a.m. in Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 2428 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. (Those attending are asked to gather at the church.) The Reverend David A. Novak, Pastor of the parish will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions in Mary’ memory to the charity of the donor’s choice.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel.
