June Ann Irish, 81, Avid Reader
June Ann Irish, (nee Thompson), age 81, of Sheffield Lake, died Friday May 8th, 2009, at her residence while in the company of her family and under the care of the Hospice of the Western Reserve following an extended illness.June was born in Cleveland, on Jan. 14, 1928 and had been a resident of Sheffield Lake for her entire life.
She was a graduate of Brookside High School. For a number of years Mrs. Irish was employed as a legal secretary throughout greater Lorain County.
Regarded as an avid reader, she possessed a special fondness for romance novels. Additional hobbies included travel, listening to all forms of music, and solving word search puzzles.
Survivors included her daughter and primary caregiver Rachel Rupert of Sheffield Lake, daughter Ann Amy Hess of Lorain, and Linda D. McKee also of Lorain, son George of Lorain, twelve grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, sisters Merl Dzikielewski of Sheffield Lake, Paula Locke of Marion, Ohio, MaeBelle Fill of Sheffield Village, Mary Hazel White of Lorain, and Judith Podmanik of Sheffield Lake, along with brothers David Kenneth Thompson and Timothy Thompson both of Sheffield Lake.
She was preceded in by her husband of 59 years Lorin in 2006, by her son Dennis Irish in 2007, by a grandson Allen Hess in 1990, by her parents Kenneth and Hazel Thompson, by her sister Donna Kingsboro, and by her brother Oliver Thompson.
Visitation will be Monday from 2 - 4 p.m. and 7 - 9 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain where funeral services will be Tuesday at 12:30 p.m. The Reverend Jeff Sweitzer, Chaplain for the Hospice of the Western Reserve will officiate.
