Emma Charlotte Strittmather, 92, Enjoyed Sewing and Crocheting
Emma Charlotte Strittmather (Doerzbacher), 92 of Vermilion, died Monday, May 11, 2009 in Community Health Partners West after a short illness.She was born October 11, 1916 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and moved from Belmont, New York to Vermilion in 1948.
Emma worked with her husband, Elmer Strittmather, at the family business, Strittmather Plumbing and Heating. She was a member of the Vermilion Evangelical and Reformed Church and participated in its Merrymakers group and women's bible study. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, reading and gardening.
She is survived by her son, John (Jack) E. Strittmather of Vermilion; 3 daughters, Ruth Maurer of Vermilion, Linda Stwan of Vermilion and Sally (Edward) Myracle of Fairlawn; 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Strittmather on December 26, 1997; a grandson David Stwan; parents, Fred and Emma (nee Hunter) Doerzbacher, sisters, Grace, Ruth and Margaret and brothers, Ralph and Fred.
A memorial service will be on Monday, May 18, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at the Vermilion E & R Church, Ohio and Grand Streets, Vermilion. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion.
