Jacquelyn A. Tramontana, 55, RN For New Life Hospice
Jacquelyn A. Tramontana (nee Unger), age 55, of Lorain, died Saturday May 23rd, 2009 at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation following an extended and courageous battle with breast cancer.
Jackie was born in Lorain on Dec. 15, 1953 and had been a life-long resident of the city.
She was a 1972 graduate of Lorain Catholic High School, and went on to receive her diploma from the Toledo University School of Nursing which led to her licensure as an Ohio Registered Nurse. She continued her education ultimately receiving both a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology and a Master’s Degree in School Administration from Baldwin-Wallace College.
Recognized by the state of Ohio as a Certified School Nurse, she was employed as a nurse for the Avon Lake City School System for twenty-two years. Most recently she served as a Registered Nurse for the New Life Hospice.
Jackie was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority as well as the Ohio School Nurse’s Association and the National Education Association.
A parishioner of Saint Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, she was a past member of the parish’s Pre-Cana marriage preparation team and had also volunteered for the American Cancer Society Relay for Life.
She is survived by her husband of thirty years Vincent G. Tramontana, along with daughters Katelyn E. Tramontana residing in Las Vegas, Nevada, and Alyssa M. Tramontana of Lorain.
She was preceded in death by her parents Jack and Lois (nee Uehlein) Unger.
Visitation will be Wednesday May 27th from 2 to 8 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain. Funeral services will be Thursday beginning with closing prayers offered in the funeral chapel at 10:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. in St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 1305 East Erie Avenue in Lorain. The Reverend Joseph West, O.F.M. Conv., Pastor of St. Anthony and the Reverend Timothy J. O’Connor, Pastor of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Avon Lake will concelebrate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
