Louise Hanko, 78, Enjoyed Baking
Louise Hanko (nee Borowicz), 78, of Lorain, died Thursday May 28, 2009 at EMH Regional Medical Center in Elyria after a long illness.She was born Aug. 27, 1930 in Lorain and had been a lifelong Lorain area resident.
Louise worked in housekeeping at Higbee’s Department Store at the Midway Mall in Elyria for 25 years retiring in 1997.
She was a member of St. Ladislaus Catholic Church in Lorain, the Virgin Mary Society and St. Ann’s Auxiliary of the church. She enjoyed baking.
She is survived by her daughter Alexis McDivitt (Robert) of Fostoria, sons: Alex J. Hanko (Pamela) of San Antonio, Texas, Paul Hanko of Lorain and Michael Hanko (Marilyn) of Elyria, 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Alex Hanko in 1988, parents John & Phyllis Borowicz (nee Naelicz) and a grandson at birth Benjamin Hanko.
A memorial mass will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Ladislaus Catholic Church, 1412 E. 29th St., Lorain. The Rev. David A. Novak, pastor of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Lorain, will officiate.
Arrangements are under the direction of Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain.
