Jane Uehlein, 88, Enjoyed Italian Cooking

Photo of Jane  Uehlein Jane Uehlein (nee Giacobbe), 88, of Lorain, died Sunday May 31, 2009 in the emergency room at Community Health Partners Hospital in Lorain.

She was born March 23, 1921 in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania and had resided in the Lorain area for the past 60 years.

Jane graduated from Canonsburg High School in Canonsburg and was Valedictorian of her class.

She worked as a secretary/receptionist at St. Joseph Hospital for over 25 years before retiring. After her retirement, she volunteered regularly at St. Joseph Hospital, Community Health Partners Hospital and St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, all of Lorain. She served as treasurer of the Ladies Auxiliary at the hospital.

Jane was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Lorain and the church Marian Guild and served as a Eucharistic Minister and sung in the church choir.

She enjoyed Italian cooking, reading and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years Donald Uehlein, daughter Terri George (George) of Lorain, sons: Scott Uehlein (Alice) of Avon Lake and Patrick Uehlein (Teri) of Powell, grandchildren: Sara Seybold, Christopher George, Lindsey, Christina, Cory, Grant and Sam Uehlein and great grandchildren Annabelle Seybold and Ryan George.

She was preceded in death by her parents and 3 brothers and 4 sisters.

The family will receive friends Wednesday 3 - 8 p.m. at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral chapel followed by the mass of Christian Burial Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 1305 E. Erie Ave., Lorain. The Rev. Joseph West, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
