Allan G. Septaric, 73, Avid Bowler & Accomplished Golfer

Allan G. Septaric, age 73, of Lorain, died unexpectedly at his home on June 2, 2009.

Allan was born in Lorain on July 18, 1935 and had been a resident of Lorain County for most of his life; he was a graduate of Lorain High School as a member of the Class of 1953-B.

He was a veteran of the United States Navy who fulfilled duty assignments as a Petty Officer First Class aboard the aircraft carrier USS Forrestal; he served from 1954 to 1958.

A parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Amherst, Mr. Septaric was employed as a supervisor for the Elyria Division of the Wooster Brush Company. He retired from the company in 1997 following twenty-six years of service.

Allan was an avid bowler who participated in numerous leagues hosted by Rebman Recreation; he also received an honors ring from the American Bowling Congress in recognition of a 299 game.

He was also an accomplished golfer who golfed in the Senior League at Bob-O-Link Golf Course as well as participating in a host of other leagues at the Dragon Ranch in South Amherst including the Community Health Partners Rehabilitation League.

He enjoyed travel and had taken a variety of cruises to the Caribbean and Alaska, as well as trips to Las Vegas, and junkets to casinos in Michigan, New York, Canada, and West Virginia.

He is survived by his brother Kenneth S. Septaric (wife Joni) of Lorain, his dear friend Kay Chet also of Lorain, and several nieces and nephews including Laura Collins, Kenneth A. Septaric, and Jay Scott Septaric.

He was preceded in death by his wife Betty Ann (nee Ritchie) in 1997, by his father Sam Septaric in 1995, and by his mother Annette (nee Udovich) Septaric in 2002.

Visitation will be Sunday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain. Funeral services will be Monday beginning at 9:15 a.m. in the funeral chapel and will be followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph Catholic Church, 200 St. Joseph Drive in Amherst. The Reverend James F. Mazanec, Parochial Vicar will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain where military honors will be conducted by the officers and members of Louis Paul Proy Chapter # 20 of the Disabled American Veterans.
