Armando Lopez, 52, Avid Cleveland Browns Fan
Armando Mando Lopez, 52, of Lorain, passed away suddenly on Saturday, June 20, 2009.
He was born Dec. 22, 1956 in Lorain. He was a lifelong resident of Lorain. He graduated from Southview High School in 1975.
A member of the Church of St. Peter, Lorain, Mando was employed at the American Ship Building and P.C. Campana. He was most recently employed by the City of Lorain and had worked at Elmwood cemetery for 10 years. He also held many union positions, was the current Vice-President of the United Steel Workers Local 6621, and was a grievance man.
Mando enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, family and friends. He enjoyed grilling and listening to music. He was an avid Cleveland Browns fan and enjoyed golfing. We will be sadly missed by all.
Survivors include his wife of 29 years, Consuelo Connie (nee Soto), sons Armando II (Nykesha Casey) and Mark both of Lorain, daughter Amanda Lopez of Lorain, grandchildren Armando and Arden Lopez, Taylor Spencer, and Tyler Casey all of Lorain, brothers Rudy, David, and Manuel Lopez all of Lorain, sisters Yolanda Brillon and Anna Lopez both of Lorain, and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother Lupe Lopez (nee Amador), grandparents Pedro and Santos (nee Adame) Cortez Amador, and brother Jose Lopez.
His family will receive friends Tuesday, June 23rd from 3 - 8 p.m. in Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home, 1783 East 37th Street, South Lorain. Funeral services will be Wednesday, June 24th with closing prayers at the funeral home at 9 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial, officiated by Fr. Ken Wolnowski, will be at 10 a.m. at the Church of St. Peter, 3501 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain. Burial will follow Ridge Hill Memorial Park Cemetery, Amherst Township.
