Allan ''Al'' Smith Doak, 62, Accomplished Musician

Photo of Allan ''Al'' Smith Doak Allan "Al" Smith Doak, 62 of Vermilion, died Sunday, June 28, 2009 at his home after a lengthy illness.

He was born June 14, 1947 in Hot Springs, Arkansas and has been a life long Vermilion resident.

He graduated from Firelands High School in 1965. Al was a tow motor operator for 15 years at ITT Wakefield Brass, Vermilion and worked security for Wachenhut Security Co. and P.C. Campana.

Al was a member of Abundant Life Church, Stephens City, VA and the First Assembly of God Church, Vermilion. He was an accomplished musician playing in the band Stagefright for 25 years. He then began creating his own music under the name Allan Roberts and became active in the worship band at First Assembly of God Church, Vermilion.

He enjoyed researching and re-selling vintage vinyl records and spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife of 20 years, Myra Doak (nee Byers); sons, Robert Doak of Vermilion, James "Jim" (Jurate) Doak of Outer Banks, NC, Brian (Tanya) Clouston of Amherst; daughters, Christina (Rezin) Clouston-Howes of Cadiz, OH, and Angela (Terrance) Clouston-Bozsoki of Vermilion; 12 grandchildren; brothers, Carl W (Linda) Doak of Vermilion and William (Yolanda) James Doak of Newport News, VA; and sister, Patsy (Larry) Buchanan of Vermilion.

Preceding him in death were his parents, James Smith and Irene (nee Gill) Doak.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, July 1, 2009 at 11:00 am at the Trinity Gospel Church 856 Decatur St., Vermilion.
