Bernice C. ''Bea'' Turton, 89, Lorain Products Retiree

Photo of Bernice C. ''Bea'' Turton Bernice C. "Bea" Turton (nee Hellinger), 89, of Lorain, died Wednesday July 15, 2009 at the Inn at Chappel Creek in Vermilion after an extended illness.

She was born September 2, 1919 in Lorain and had been a lifelong Lorain area resident.

Bea worked at Lorain Products as an order editor for 16 years retiring in 1980. She had also worked at Smith Gerhart as a buyer.

She was a member of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Lorain, AARP #3318, Sunny Seniors of North Eaton and the Jolly 60's of Elyria.

Bea enjoyed spending time with her family, grandchildren, great grandchildren and her new friends at the Inn at Chappel Creek. She also enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening.

She is survived by her children James Turton (Evelyn) of Lorain, Joseph Turton of Amherst and Diane Konnerth (Hans) of Amherst, grandchildren Kelly Sand (Rick) of Vermilion, Robin Wawrzynski of Texas, Nicole Lawrence (Rob) of Tennessee, Cristina Rios of Lorain, Lisa Konnerth of Amherst, Hans Konnerth of Lorain and Heather Roberts (Demitrious) of Texas, 11 great grandchildren, sister Lois Vidovich of Lorain and brother Robert Hellinger of Florida. She was preceded in death by her husband Edward S. Turton in 2005, parents Milton and Mary Hellinger (nee Birshbaugh), brothers Alvin Hellinger and Earl Hellinger and sisters Betty Hellinger, Geraldine Karney, Mildred Frey and Ruth Rogers.

The family will receive friends Sunday 2-4, 7-9 pm at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain. Funeral services will be held Monday at 9:30 am in the funeral chapel followed by the mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, 1454 Lexington Ave., Lorain. The Rev. Edward Luca, pastor emeritus of St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church and the Rev. Robert Dybo, deacon of Nativity Church, will concelebrate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park in Amherst Township.
