Walter A. Fritsch, 91, War World II Veteran
Walter A. Fritsch, 91, of Cherry Hill, New Jersey formerly of Lorain died on Sunday, July 19, 2009 at the Masonic Home of New Jersey in Burlington, New Jersey following a long illness.
Mr. Fritsch was born in Amherst on November 14, 1917, the son of the late Andrew and Katharina (nee Mueller) Fritsch. He was a US Army Air Corp veteran serving during World War II. He attended the former Fenn College kna Case Western Reserve University. He was a member of F & AM Black River Lodge
# 786, 32 Degree Mason and Scottish Rite Valley of Cleveland.
He was a engineering services manager for the former Thew Shovel, Lorain division. He was a member of Christian Temple Disciples of Christ Church in Lorain.
He is survived by a daughter Karen (Ward) Pitkin of Cherry Hill, NJ, grandsons Steve (Chris) Skarupa, Peter (Julie) Skarupa, great grandsons Mathew and Mitchell Skarupa, great granddaughter Kaitlyn Skarupa and his neice Carolyn Petty of Prescott, Arizona.
In addition to his parents, He was preceded in death by his wife Bertha E. (nee Strauss) Fritsch in 2001 and a daughter Norma J. Skarupa.
Friends may call at the Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home For Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain on Friday, July 24, 2009 from 3-6 pm. Masonic services will be at 6:00 PM. Funeral services will be on Saturday, July 25, 2009 at 11:00 AM in the funeral home with Rev. Dr. Bradley J. Donahue, pastor, officiating.
Burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park Cemetery, Amherst, Ohio with full military honors provided jointly by American Legion Post 30 and VFW Post 451.
The family suggest that memorial contributions may be made to the Masonic Charity Foundation of New Jersey, 902 Jacksonville Road, Burlington, NJ 08016-3814.
