Rosemarie Cowie, 54, Avid Crafter

Photo of Rosemarie Cowie Rosemarie Cowie (nee Deba), age 54, of Wakeman, died at her residence on Tuesday Aug. 18th, 2009 following a long illness.

Born in Lorain, she grew up in Sheffield Lake and had been a resident of Florence Township since 1982.

Mrs. Cowie graduated from Brookside High School as a member of the Class of 1972; she was employed as a Teller and Customer Service Representative at Lorain National Bank for thirty-four years with perfect attendance during much of that time.

Rose was a member of Saint Mary Catholic Church in Vermilion and sang in the Joyful Noise Choir there. She was also an avid crafter and featured her winter wreaths and cemetery decorations in many area shows. Her pleasant personality and smile greeted visitors to the table and she loved to see them walk away pleased.

She is survived by her devoted husband of twenty-eight years Craig Cowie, by her beloved daughter Heather (Cowie) Shive and her husband Jared of Louisville, Ohio, along with brothers Joseph R. Deba of Englewood, Colorado and David J. Deba of Lorain, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Rose was preceded in death by her parents Joseph J. and Victoria A. (nee Zehel) Deba, and by her sister Mary Ann Elmore.

Friends may call Thursday, August 20th from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain. Funeral services will be Friday at 10 a.m. in the funeral chapel with Father James Holmer, Pastor of Saint Mary Catholic Church presiding. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery in Vermilion.
