Marie C. Freda, 68, Avid Supporter of the Family Outreach Center

Photo of Marie C. Freda Marie C. Freda, 68 (nee DiCarlo) of Lorain passed away, unexpectedly Thursday morning, Aug. 20, 2009 at Community Health Partners Regional Medical Center in Lorain.

Mrs. Freda was born in Lorain on Dec. 23, 1940, the daughter of the late Dominic and Pia J. (nee Glorioso) DiCarlo.

A lifelong resident of Lorain, she was a graduate of Lorain High School class of 1959-A. She was also a lifetime member of St. Peter Catholic Church, and a member of The Sodality of St. Peter's.

She was a retired clerk from the Lorain County Recorder's Office after 14 years service. She had previously been employed by Lorain City School and Lorain National Bank.

Mrs. Freda was a member of Sons of Italy, Montenero Club, Kings and Queens Couples Club. She was a Lorain County Pollster, an avid supporter of the Family Outreach Center, a member of the Ohio Troopers Coalition and the Girls Club.

She enjoyed bowling, cooking, shopping, play cards (pinochle), trips to Vegas, and classic movies, but the love of her life was her family especially playing with her grandsons.

Mrs. Freda is survived by her husband Enrico (Rick) Freda, to whom she was married June 15, 1963, a daughter Lisa M. (Dave) Amundsen of Alpharetta, GA, her grandsons Nicholas and Andrew Amundsen, a sister JoAnn Miller of Perrysburg, a brother Dominic R. (Judy) DiCarlo of Woodbury, NJ and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call Sunday, Aug. 23, 2009 from 1 - 3 p.m. and 6 - 9 p.m. in the Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home For Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain, Ohio.

Funeral services will be on Monday, Aug. 24, 2009 at 10:15 a.m. in the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at The Church of St. Peter Catholic Church, 3501 Oberlin Ave., Lorain at 11 a.m. with Father Charles Henkle as celebrant. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.

The family suggest that memorial contributions may be made to charity of the donor's choice in Marie's memory.
