John Yangula, 82, Avid Fisherman
John Jack Yangula, age 82, of Lorain, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday Aug. 29th, 2009.He was born in Brackenridge, Pennsylvania on July 9th, 1927 and had been a resident of Lorain since 1949.
John was a World War II veteran of the United States Army where he fulfilled duty assignments as an Armorer attached to the 7th Regiment, 17th Infantry in Korea. He was the recipient of the Army Occupation Medal as well as the World War II Victory Medal.
He was employed in the maintenance department of Ford Motor Company’s Lorain Assembly Plant; he retired from the automaker in 1988 following thirty years of service.
Mr. Yangula was an avid fisherman and enjoyed reading. He was also a familiar face at Jamie’s Flea Market on Wednesday and Saturday mornings.
Survivors include his wife of fifty-eight years Mildred M. (nee Kuhn), daughters Debra Kretkovics (husband Dale) of Vermilion, and Pamela A. Thomas (husband Jeffrey) of Rocky River. He is also survived by his grandson Brett A. Thomas currently serving in the United States Coast Guard, and a brother Eugene (wife Betty) Yangula residing in Sheffield Lake.
He was preceded in death by his parents John and Annabelle (nee Orris) Yangula.
The Reverend Edgar Anthony, Pastor of Ss. Peter & Paul Lutheran Church in Sheffield Township presided over family funeral services at the graveside on Thursday in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township. The Committal concluded with military honors conducted by the officers and members of Louis Paul Proy Chapter # 20 of the Disabled American Veterans.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, Lorain.
