Frances Mary Salatnai, 86, Enjoyed Cooking & Baking for Family and Friends
Frances Mary Salatnai, 86 of Lorain, died Friday, Sept. 11, 2009 at the New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph in Lorain following a lengthy illness.
She was born April 25, 1923 in Clymer, Pennsylvania, moving to Lorain as a child. She was a member of the Catholic Church of St. Peter in Lorain.
Frances was devoted to her family and a most gracious host. She enjoyed cooking and baking for family and friends, ensuring that no one would leave her home hungry. She was an avid bowler in many leagues and enjoyed traveling to the casinos.
She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Manuel Salatnai of Lorain; son, Frank Passanisi of Lorain; daughter and son-in-law, Virginia and Alfred Mathewson of Lorain; grandsons, Nicholas A. (Melissa) Urban, Franklin Passanisi, Brian (Cindy) Toth and Andrew (Taryn) Mathewson; granddaughters, Deborah (Brian) Poyle, Danielle (Tim) Devereaux and Jessica Mathewson; 9 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Madeline (John) Szabo; brothers, John (Clementine) Costello and Peter (Dorothy) Costello.
She was preceded-in-death by her first husband, James Passanisi, parents, Peter and Madeline (nee Cericella) Costello, sisters, Pauline Crowl and Mary Rossi and brothers, Pat, Steve, Phillip, Charles and Joseph Costello.
Friends may call on Sunday, September 13, 2009 from 4 p.m. - 8 p.m. at the Dombrowski-Humphrey-Riddle Funeral Home, 1939 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain.
Closing prayers will be said at the funeral home on Monday, Sept. 14, 2009 at 11 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. at the Catholic Church of St. Peter, 3501 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain. Fr. Chuck Henkle, OFM Conv., associate pastor, will officiate. Entombment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
