George B. Cyran, 85, Former Inspector at Ford Motor Lorain Assembly Plant

George B. Cyran, age 85, of Pittsfield Township, and formerly of Lorain, died Saturday Sept. 12th, 2009 at his residence following an extended illness.

He was born in Lorain on March 7th, 1924 and attended Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parochial School.

George was a veteran of the United States Army where he fulfilled duty assignments as a Private First Class assigned to Medical Command Unit 1101 during World War II. He was the recipient of the Good Conduct Medal.

Mr. Cyran was employed as an inspector at Ford Motor Company’s Lorain Assembly Plant for many years; he retired in 1998.

Survivors include his daughters Loretta Ritchie of Pittsfield Township, and Deborah Bloch (husband James) of North Olmsted, by four grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, as well as by his brother Emil (wife Betty) Cyran residing in Amherst.

George was preceded in death by his parents John and Agnes (nee Novak) Cyran and by his sister Ann Ivan.

Funeral services were conducted Wednesday in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel with the Reverend David A. Novak, Parish Administrator of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church presiding. Burial followed in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
