Leonard M. Rose Sr., 54, Avid Cleveland Indians & Browns Fan
Leonard M. Rose, Sr., age 54, of Sheffield Township, died Tuesday Oct. 6th, 2009 at the New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph following a brief illness.
Lenny was born in Lorain on July 6, 1955 and had been a life-long resident of the area; he was a graduate of Admiral King High School as a member of the Class of 1973.
Mr. Rose was employed as a tow motor operator and later as a relief man at Ford Motor Company’s Lorain Assembly Plant; he later served as a member of the production team at the company’s Ohio Truck Plant retiring in 2006 following a career that spanned 32 � years with the automaker. He was a member of both United Autoworkers Local # 425 and Local # 2000.
Lenny devoted his entire life to having fun and never hesitated to help others no matter what the need. He also was proud to never have met a person that he regarded as a stranger.
An avid fan of both the Cleveland Indians and Browns professional sports teams, he was a Life Member of the American Slovak Club, a member of American Legion Post #30 of Lorain, Amvets Post #47 of Lorain, and Lake Erie Moose Lodge #552. He was also a member of the Friends of Stammitti.
In his free time Mr. Rose enjoyed hunting and fishing as well as going on gambling junkets throughout the United States. Additional interests included playing bingo, gardening, and doing yard work.
He is survived by his wife of 27 years Jeannie (nee DeCarlo), by his son Leonard M. Rose, Jr. of Lorain, by grandchildren Corey, Kaitlyn, Malakai, and Mason, by his mother Anne (nee Kaliszewski) of Lorain, by sisters Sandra and Diane Rose both of Lorain, along with numerous nieces and nephews and by his beloved pet Poodles Snowball and Sammy. He was preceded in death by his father Leonard C. Rose in 1977.
Visitation will be Thursday from 3 p.m. - 8 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain where funeral services will be held Friday at 10 a.m. Reverend Harry N. Croft, Pastor of Wheeling Marwin Nazarene Church in Wheeling, West Virginia will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
