Arlie G. Bednar, 62, Former Warner & Swasey Adminstrative Assistant

Photo of Arlie G. Bednar Arlie G. Bednar (nee Saunders), age 62, died Wednesday October 7, 2009 at St. Joseph Hospital in Tampa, Florida following a brief illness.

Mrs. Bednar was born in Cleveland on April 15, 1947 and had been a resident of Tampa for the past eighteen years.

While residing in northeast Ohio she was employed as an Administrative Assistant for the Warner and Swasey Company. Most recently she had served as a sales associate for Talbot’s.

A parishioner of Christ the King Catholic Church in Tampa, Arlie was a member and past President of the Parkland Estates Garden Club as well as a past member of the Parkland Civic Club. She possessed an undying devotion to animals and especially to her pet Samoyed named “Spook”.

Survivors include her husband of 28 years Ralph, by her son Brian Hozian (fiancé Gina) residing in Forsyth, Georgia, by her daughter Elizabeth Rake of Suwanee, Georgia, and was the loving Nannie to Morgan, Kayla, & Ellie Rake. She is also survived by a score of wonderful neighbors, friends, and customers.

Arlie was preceded in death by her parents Harold and Gladys (nee Myers) Saunders.

Visitation will be Monday Oct. 12th from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain. Funeral services will be Tuesday Oct. 13th beginning at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral chapel and will be followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 2428 Elyria Avenue. The Reverend David A. Novak, Pastor of the Parish will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family encourages memorial contributions to the charity of the donor’s choice.
