Hubert Walter Rowan, 78, Former Lorain Ford Plant Employee
Hubert "Jack" Walter Rowan, 78 of Vermilion, died Friday, Oct. 9, 2009 in Metro Health Medical Center after a sudden illness.
He was born May 1, 1931 in Sutton, WV and has been a Vermilion resident since 1954 moving from West Virginia.
Jack worked at the Lorain Ford Plant as a tug driver and retired after 34 years. He had also worked in the coal mines in Wolf Creek, WV when he was younger.
He served in the Merchant Marines on the Great Lakes.
He is survived by 7 brothers: Hershel Rowan of Sutton, WV, Everett Rowan of Sutton, WV, Odis Rowan of Elmore, OH , Bennie Rowan of Canton, OH, Irvin Rowan of Cleveland, OH, Cary Rowan of Vermilion, Roy Rowan of Beverly, WV; 3 sisters, Ada Rene Tingler of Amherst, Ruby Rowan of Murfreesboro, TN, and Nancy Glover of Cleveland.
Preceding him in death were his wife, Betty Mae (nee Sanders) Rowan in March of 2009, parents, Griffin and Goldie Ruth (nee Snyder) Rowan; and brother, Jerry Rowan.
Friends may call Friday, Oct. 17, 2009 from 2 - 4 p.m. and 7 - 9 p.m. at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio.
Services will be held at the Riddle Funeral Home, Saturday, October 18, 2009 at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion.
