Elsie A. Bryda, 69, Retired X-Ray Technician
Elsie A. Bryda (nee Quarando), 69, of Elyria, died Sunday Oct. 11, 2009 at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph in Lorain after a lengthy illness.She was born Nov. 17, 1939 in Lorain and had resided in Elyria since 1983.
Elsie was a 1957 graduate of Lorain High School. She worked as an X-Ray Technician at Lorain Community Hospital and for Dr. Greg Poyle in Sheffield Village.
Elsie was a member of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Lorain. She enjoyed casino trips and Cleveland Indians baseball.
She is survived by her son James Bryda Jr. (Cynthia) of Amherst, grandsons Adam and Michael Bryda, brother John Quarando (Pam) of Amherst, sister Marie Konopka (Leonard) of Amherst, sisters-in-law Sandy Crapo (Ron) of Sheffield Lake, Judy Glowacki (Bill) of Wakeman and Marilyn Firment (Paul) of Elyria and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband James Bryda Sr in 2003 and parents John & Helen Quarando (nee Jarzmik).
The family will receive friends Wednesday 2 p.m. - 4 p.m., 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral chapel followed by the mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, 1454 Lexington Ave., Lorain. The Rev. Robert Glepko, pastor and the Rev. Robert Dybo, deacon, will concelebrate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
