Frances Clara Juristy, 75, Talented Homemaker

Photo of Frances Clara Juristy Frances Clara Juristy (nee Phillips), 75 of Lorain, passed away in her home surrounded by her family, on Monday, Oct. 12, 2009.

She was born April 30, 1934 in Fairmont, West Virginia. She moved to Lorain, Ohio from Morgantown, WV in 1962, where she lived the rest of her life.

Mrs. Juristy was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Lorain; and a member of the church’s Altar and Rosary Society.

Frances was a loving mother and devoted grandmother, helping to care for all of her grandchildren for many years. She was a talented homemaker who enjoyed family gatherings, especially at the holidays. She was known for her cooking and baking, especially her chicken soup and cabbage rolls.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years Frank Juristy of Lorain and children son, Edward P. Juristy (Andra) of Avon, daughters Tina Salyer (Kevin) of LaGrange, and Mary Juristy of Lorain. She is also survived by four grandchildren: Edward P. Juristy, Jr., Erin Juristy, Ryan Salyer and Rachel Salyer; two great-grandchildren: Jenna Juristy and Devin Juristy; and three siblings; Carol Hoskins, Anthony (JuJu) Phillips and Jim (Junior) Phillips all of Morgantown, WV.

She was preceded in death by her parents: James Phillips and Julia Phillips (nee Ruben), brother Samuel (Sonny) Phillips and sister Mary Irene Brotherton.

Her family will welcome friends to a Mass of Christian Burial, Saturday, Oct. 17, 2009, at 10 a.m. at Saint John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, 2143 Homewood Drive and Grove Avenue (Rt. 57), Lorain. Rev. Fr. Thomas R. Smith will officiate. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memory Gardens in Avon.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Saint John Church, 2143 Homewood Drive, Lorain Ohio 44055.
