Moses Dower, 66, Retired from Lorain Ford Assembly Plant

Photo of Moses  Dower Moses Dower, 66, formerly of Lorain went home to be with his Savior, Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2009 in Saginaw, Michigan following an extended illness.

He was born March 2, 1943 in Selma Alabama. He moved to Youngstown in the early 1960’s to attend trade school. The came to Lorain in 1966 to work at the Lorain Ford Assembly Plant, until his retirement in 1990. He moved to Michigan in 2008.

Mr. Dower attended Elder John Barber’s Revival Meetings. He was a member of the United Auto Workers, Local 425 Lorain. He loved his family especially his grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was a great cook.

He is survived by his wife of 10 months Silvia Aldridge Dower of Saginaw; daughters Gwendolyn (Willie) Roller of Birmingham, Alabama and Wanda M. Dower of Hinckley; sons Antonio M (Michelle), Timothy M., and Moses Tyree (Awilda) Dower all of Lorain; Brothers Joseph Dower if New Jersey, and David Dower of Louisville, Kentucky; 16 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; step-children Mary Aldridge, Kawana Cash and William Watkins and 9 step grandchildren and a host of nieces nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 24 years Joyce Sharpe Dower in 1998; his parents Joseph and Mary (nee Jones) Dower; sisters Bernice Garner, Sadie Dower Sharpe, Josephine English and Anna Belle Dower; and a brother Frank Dower.

His family will receive friends Friday, Oct. 30, from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Christian Kingdom Church, 1310 Colorado Avenue, Lorain. Where his funeral service is Saturday at 10 a.m. Pastor and co-pastor Charles and Valerie Howard, will officiate. Burial will follow Ridge Hill Memorial Park Cemetery, Amherst Township.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home, 1783 East 31st Street, South Lorain.
