Ted Partyka Sr., 92, Enjoyed Spending Time with his Wife & Family
Ted Partyka, Sr., age 92, of Lorain, died Monday Oct. 26th in the arms of his loving wife of 70 years with his children and grandchildren at his bedside.
Ted and Evalyn would have celebrated their 71st anniversary on Oct. 29th of this year.
Mr. Partyka was born in Lorain on Nov. 16, 1916. He formerly worked with the Civilian Conservation Corps and later served with the United States Army during World War II. He fulfilled duty assignments as a Private First Class with the 18th Battalion and was the recipient of the World War II Victory Medal.
He was employed as a Conductor for the Lake Terminal Railroad retiring in 1976 following 35 years of service with the company. He was a parishioner of the Catholic Church of St. Peter.
In earlier years, Ted was an avid golfer and bowler participating in a variety of leagues throughout the area. He enjoyed time spent with his wife and family, playing cards, and traveling. Carpentry was another enjoyment and he built several of the houses that the family lived in over the years.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years Evalyn (nee Shinsky), by his children Marlene (Joe) Simo of Lorain, Sherrill (William) Spruill of Viera, Florida, Ted (Donna) Partyka, Jr. of Lorain, Sandi (Chet) Uszynski of North Richland Hills, Texas, David (Charlotte) Partyka of Oberlin, Diane (Rich) Whaley of Lorain, and Debi Stone of Vermilion. He is also survived by grandchildren Terry (Christine) Simo of Panama City, Florida, Bryan (Kimbrooke) Pavlich of Suwanee, Georgia, Chris (Lori) Partyka of Lorain, Wendy (Mark) Rudnik of Avon Lake, Sherri Wright of Bedford, Texas, Scott (Janet) Uszynski of Colleyville, Texas, Kurt (Stasia) Pavlich of Fort Walton Beach Florida, Jennifer (Hugh) Shagovac of Amherst, Melanie (Jeff) Miller of Fort Collins, Colorado, Rhea (Doug) King of Cross Junction, Virginia, Heather (Heath) Angus of Stow, Ohio, and Brittney Stone of Alliance. He also leaves behind fifteen great grandchildren and a brother Stanley Konat of Lorain.
Ted was preceded in death by his father George Partyka in 1922, by his mother Helen (nee Piatek) Partyka-Konat in 1981, by brothers Ralph in 1967, and Edward in 1992 along with his sister Josephine Repko in 2008.
Visitation will be Thursday Oct. 29th from 2 - 4 p.m. and 6 - 8 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain. Funeral services will be Friday beginning with closing prayers at 9 a.m. in the funeral chapel; a Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 9:30 a.m. in the Catholic Church of St. Peter, 3501 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain. The Reverend Craig Hovanec, Pastor of the parish will preside.
