Stanley M. Rak, 78, Griffith Blacktop Retiree

Stanley M. Rak, 78, of Lorain, died Saturday Oct. 31, 2009 at his home after a long illness.

He was born Sept. 27, 1931 in Lorain and had been a lifelong Lorain area resident.

Stanley attended St. Stanislaus School and graduated from Lorain High School. He worked at Lorain Trucking and Griffith Blacktop as a truck driver before retiring. He was a life member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Lorain.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years Mary Rak (nee Merva), sons: Michael Rak (Beth) and John Rak (Kathy), 3 stepgrandchildren and 2 great grandchildren, sister Helen Hennes and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Wawrzyniec & Anna Rak (nee Gorski), brothers Wences and Edward Rak and sister Lottie Armel.

A funeral mass will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 2428 Elyria Ave., Lorain. The Rev. David A. Novak, pastor of St. Clement Catholic Church in Lakewood, will officiate. Private burial will be held at a later time in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain.
