Paul E. Blewitt Sr., 85, Army Air Corps Veteran

Photo of Paul E. Blewitt Sr. Paul E. Blewitt, Sr., age 85, of Amherst, passed away Wednesday November 4, 2009 at Firelands Regional Medical Center in Sandusky.

Mr. Blewitt was a World War II Veteran of the United States Army Air Force where he fulfilled duty assignments as a Radio Repairman attached to the 711th Heavy Bomb Squadron while stationed in England. He was the recipient of the Distinguished Unit Badge, the American Campaign Medal, the European-African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with six Bronze Stars, the World War II Victory Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal. Mr. Blewitt was a recent resident of the Ohio Veterans Home in Sandusky.

Paul was employed as a driver for the CMC Transfer Company of Elyria. In his free time he enjoyed fishing, gardening, golf, and horses.

He is survived by his six children Paul E. Blewitt, Jr. of Oberlin, Ken Blewitt (wife Doreen) of Lagrange, Pat Blewitt (wife Connie) of Wakeman, Terry Blewitt of Oberlin, Kathy Blewitt of Elyria, and Becky Carroll (husband Tim) residing in Burton. He also leaves fourteen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife Julia in 1972, by his parents, and ten siblings.

Visitation will be Friday from 2 - 4 p.m. and 6 - 8 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain. Funeral services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. in the funeral chapel with the Reverend Robert Daugherty presiding. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery where military honors will be conducted by the officers and members of Louis Paul Proy Chapter #20 of the Disabled American Veterans.
