Gust Karabogias, 79, Former City of Lorain Sanitation Dept. Employee
Gust Karabogias, 79 of Lorain, fell asleep in the Lord Friday, Nov. 13, 2009 in Amherst Manor following a lengthy illness.
He was born June 25, 1930 in Thisvi, Greece. He immigrated to Lorain June 16, 1967.
Mr. Karabogias retired in 1985 from the City of Lorain Sanitation Department. He worked there for 18 Years. Before moving to the United States, he was a farmer and a member of the Greek Army.
He was a member of Saint Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, Lorain, Theveon Helikon Society, Lorain, and the United Steelworkers. Gust enjoyed working around his home.
Among the survivors are his loving wife of 54 years Amalia Karabogias (nee Kovainis) of Lorain, son George (Linda) Karaboyias of Las Vegas, Nevada, daughter Dimitra Karaboyias of Lorain, sister Maria Athanas of Lorain granddaughter Michelle (Robert) Eaton of Farmington Hills, Michigan and a great grandson Jesse Eaton and nieces and nephews.
His parents Athanasios and Dimitra (nee Gikosi) Karabogias, brothers Anthony Karabogias and Theodore Karabogias, preceded him in death.
Gust’s family will receive friends Monday, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home, 1783 E. 31st South Lorain, (440) 277-8164 where, Trisagion Service will be in the funeral home at 6 p.m. The Funeral Service will be Tuesday, at 11 am at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, 2000 Tower Blvd., Lorain the Reverend Michael Gulgas will officiate. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, Lorain.
