Angel Manuel Santiago, 59, Enjoyed Playing Bingo

Photo of Angel Manuel Santiago Angel Manuel Santiago, 59 of Lorain, passed away Monday, Nov. 23, 2009 in Community Health Partners Regional Medical Center, Lorain following a battle with cancer.

He was born Dec. 15, 1949 in Bayamon, Puerto Rico. He moved to New York, New York as a child. He came to Lorain in the mid 1970’s.

Mr. Santiago served in the Army during the Vietnam War. He earned the National Defense Service Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal. He worked at Gel Pak and Ford. Angel was a very giving man, who enjoyed playing bingo. He made beautiful Christmas plates and other crafts.

Among the survivors are his partner Michael Williamson of Lorain, sisters Alma Robinson of the Bronx, New York and Brenda Rojas of Tampa, Florida, a brothers Raymond Marrero of Texas, a cousin Rosa Ammond of Lorain, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and a great nephew.

He was preceded in death by his parents Manuel and Maria (nee Rodriguez) Santiago.

Friends may call Today, Wednesday from 4 p.m. to time of funeral service 7 p.m. in the Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home, 1783 East 31st Street, South Lorain, (440) 277-8164. Rev. Mr. Juan Rocy Ortez deacon of Where the Disabled American Veterans, Louis Paul Proy, Chapter 20, Lorain will conduct military honors.
