Joseph C. Reiner, 76, Enjoyed Playing Cards with Friends

Photo of Joseph C. Reiner Joseph C. "Joe" Reiner, 76, of Wellington and formerly of Avon Lake and Sheffield Lake passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2009 in Elyria Memorial Hospital Regional Medical Center in Elyria following an extended illness.

Mr. Reiner was born in Lorain on May 29, 1933, the son of the late George J. and Lena M. (nee Clark) Reiner. A graduate of Brookside High School, he attended Fenn College currently Cleveland State University. He served in the U.S. Army.

He attended Sheffield Lake United Church of Christ Sheffield Lake.

Mr. Reiner worked as an operating engineer with Operating Engineer's Local #18 in Cleveland for 45 years. He retired in 1993. He also worked for the City of Sheffield Lake and the Lake Terminal Railroad.

He was a former member of the Kiwanis. He enjoyed several golf leagues especially his second career hole-in-one in August 2009. He also enjoyed playing cards with friends at the Sheffield Community Center. An accomplished athlete in High school he played football, basketball and ran track. He was an avid supporter of both the Keystone High School Athletic program and the Avon Lake High School Athletic program.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 56 years, Carolyn M. (Newman) Reiner, daughters Kathy M. Reiner, Janet L. (Dave) Glowinski both of Wellington, Ellie F (Dan) Dudukovich of Oberlin, sons: Danny A. (Missy) Reiner of Exton, PA., Matthew J (Debbie) Reiner of Sylvania, 13 grandchildren, 1 great grandchildren and sisters: Dorothy M. (Dude) Gavlak of Elyria, Irene E. ( George) Phillips of Massillon.

Friends may call Saturday, Dec. 5, 2009 from Noon until services at 2 p.m. in the Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home For Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain, Ohio.

Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park Cemetery Amherst Township, OH.

The family suggest that memorial contributions may be made to Donor's choice.
