Catherine Papajcik, 89, Seamstress
Catherine Papajcik, (nee Turon), age 89, of Mentor, and formerly of Lorain, died Saturday at the Mentor Way Nursing and Rehabilitation Center following an extended illness.
Mrs. Papajcik was born in Lorain on Aug. 27, 1920 and had been a resident of Lake County for the past three years.
She was formerly employed as a seamstress for the Lorain Garment Factory. Catherine later worked in the cafeteria service division of the Lorain Public Schools.
She was a parishioner of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Lorain and was a member of St. Ann’s Lodge Branch # 114. In her free time she enjoyed sewing, cake decorating, collecting angels, and flower and vegetable gardening.
Survivors include her daughter Carole McKnight (husband Robert) of Painesville Township, son Robert J. Papajcik (wife Jeanette) residing in Beavercreek, Ohio, five grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, sister Ethel Matus (husband Edward) of Wakeman, and brother Edward Turon (wife Pat) of North Olmsted.
She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph in 1987, her parents Martin and Pauline (nee Baran) Turon, by brothers Albert and Martin Turon, and by sisters Janet Squires, Mary Nalepka, Helen Kurish, and Bernice Turon.
Visitation will be Monday Dec. 7th from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain. Funeral services will be Tuesday Dec. 8th beginning at 9 a.m. in the funeral chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 9:30 a.m. in Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 2428 Elyria Avenue. The Reverend James Becherer will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
