Joseph A. Hlebcar, 96, Served with US Army in WWII
Joseph A. Hlebcar, 96, of Lorain, died Monday Dec. 7, 2009 at Community Regional Medical Center in Lorain after a short illness.He was born Oct. 28, 1913 in Lorain and had been a lifelong Lorain area resident.
Joseph served with the US Army during World War II in the 10th Mountain Division and saw action in Europe and Italy.
He worked for Black River Lumber managing the paint and hardware department retiring in 1975.
Joseph was a past member of St. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church in Lorain and the Italian-American Veterans Post #1 in Lorain.
He is survived by his wife Lucilla Hlebcar, daughter Penny Braun (Robert) of Lorain, son Paul Hlebcar of Oakland, California, grandson Robert E. Braun (Kawaki) of Toledo, great granddaughter Victoria Braun and sister Ann Jursinski of Hawaii. He was preceded in death by his parents and several brothers and sisters.
Cremation will take place and the ashes will be buried at a later date.
Arrangements are under the direction of Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain.
