Ronald P. Hook, 67, Enjoyed Listening to Jazz Music

Photo of Ronald P. Hook Ronald P. “Santino” Hook, age 67, of Amherst, died Monday Dec. 7, 2009 at Community Health Partners Hospital & Surgical Center following a three month illness.

He was born in Lorain on June 25, 1942 and had been a resident of Amherst for the past 12 years.

Mr. Hook was a graduate of Lorain High School as a member of the Class of 1960. While attending Lorain High he was a member of the Bachelor’s Club there.

Following his graduation he enlisted in the United States Navy where he fulfilled duty assignments aboard the USS San Marcos.

Ron was employed as a spotter and welder at Ford Motor Company’s Lorain Assembly Plant; following its closing, he completed his career with the automaker working as a maintenance man at Ford’s Ohio Truck Plant. A member of United Autoworkers Local 2000, he retired in 2007.

In his free time he enjoyed listening to jazz music.

He is survived by his wife of 11 years Karen, by daughters Rona Lemons and Shelly Wright both residing in Texas, by stepchildren Archie Johnson and Wendy Pearce, by 3 grandchildren, by his step-grandchildren Alex and James, by his sister Sharon Alloway of New London, along with a variety of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents John Richard and Mary Elizabeth (nee Short) Hook.

Visitation will be Wednesday Dec. 9th from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain. Funeral services will be Thursday Dec. 10th beginning at 10 a.m. in the funeral chapel. His funeral mass will follow at 10:30 a.m. in the Catholic Church of St. Peter, 3501 Oberlin Avenue. The Reverend Craig Hovanec, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Twp.

The family encourages memorial contributions to the veteran’s organization of the donor’s choice.
