Edward Lee White, 83, Enjoyed Hunting
Edward Lee White, age 83, of Lorain, went home to be with his Lord on Wednesday Dec. 16th, 2009 following an extended illness.
He was born in Elana, West Virginia on Nov. 6, 1926 and was a graduate of Spencer High School; he worked his first job at the DuPont Chemical Plant in Charleston.
In his early 20’s Ed moved to Akron where he was employed by the Roadway Express Company and later at Railway Express as a clerk typist. In 1950 he moved to Lorain and began employment with the United States Steel Corporation and worked at a multitude of jobs in all areas of the Lorain-Cuyahoga Works. He retired in 1986 as a Special Inspector in the bar mills ending a career that spanned thirty-six years with the steel producer. He was affiliated with United Steelworkers Local # 1104.
Mr. White was a member of the International Community Baptist Church in Lorain as well as a member of the Lake Erie Landlord’s Association. In his free time he enjoyed hunting, gardening, and home remodeling.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years Hazel M. Mary (nee Thompson), by his beloved son James Edward White (wife Donna) of Avon Lake, grandchildren Jason Lee, Jennifer Lynn, and Matthew James, by his brother Hugh White of Plant City, Florida, sisters Mary Seabolt of Charleston, West Virginia, Margaret Webster of Tennessee, and Lucille Fisher of Akron.
He was preceded in death by his parents Newton Jasper White and Olga (nee Drake) White.
Friends and relatives will be received on Sunday Dec. 20th from 2 - 4 p.m. and 5 - 8 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain. Funeral services will be conducted Monday Dec. 21st at 1 p.m. in the funeral chapel. Dr. John Williams and Pastor Howard Reinhold will co-officiate. Burial will follow in Garfield Cemetery, Sheffield Village.
