Carl T. Zofchak, 91, Retired Brick Layer & Stone Mason
Carl T. Zofchak, 91 of Avon passed away peacefully surrounded by family at his residence on Monday, January 10, 2011.He was born December 15, 1919 in Meadowlands, PA and had been a resident of Avon since 2004 moving there from Temple City, CA where he had lived for some 40 years.
He was a W.W. II U.S. Army veteran. He was a retired brick layer and stone mason and was a member of the International Union of Brick Layers and Allied Craft Workers AFL-CIO.
He was s member of St. Julie Billiart Catholic Church, North Ridgeville. Carl was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, St. Luke Church in Temple City, CA.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Rose (nee Terchick), a daughter, Karen (Paul) Campbell of Avon, a son, Carl D. (Marjorie Taylor) Zofchak of Silverwater, Ontario, Canada, 5 grandchildren, Scott, Eric and Lauren Campbell, Christian Zofchak and Angie Patrick and 6 great grandchildren, Erika Zofchak, and Wesley, Austin, Avery, Abigail and Madison Campbell.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Anna Mary (Kuban) and Matthew Zofchak, 5 brothers and 3 sisters.
Friends will be received from 6-8 P.M. Tuesday, January 11, 2011 in the David Bogner Family Funeral Home 36625 Center Ridge Rd., North Ridgeville where the Knights of Columbus Council 7970 will recite the Rosary at 7 P.M. A prayer service will be held at 9:30 A.M. Wednesday in the funeral home followed by a 10 A.M. funeral mass at St. Julie Billiart Catholic Church 5500 Lear Nagle Rd., North Ridgeville. Rev. Tom Kowatch will be the celebrant. Private burial will take place Queen of Heaven Cemetery, McMurray, PA.
