Velma P. McComas, 80, Avid Reader
Velma P. “Penny” McComas, age 80, of Lorain, died Wednesday Jan. 13, 2010 at Community Regional Medical Center following a sudden illness.
She was born in Marietta, Ohio on Aug. 14, 1929 and had been a long-time resident of Lorain.
Penny was an avid reader who especially enjoyed novels. She was formerly active with the Ladies Auxiliary of American Legion Post # 30 of Lorain.
Mrs. McComas is survived by her husband of 43 years Irvin, by a son Irvin Scott McComas (wife Susan) of Lorain, by grandchildren Colin and Caitlin, and by her brother Lewis “Junior” Gossett residing in Florida.
She was preceded in death by her parents Lewis S. and Velma (nee Graham) Gossett, by sisters Caroline Gossett and Erma Mize, and by brothers William, Dennis, and Carroll.
Visitation will be Sunday Jan. 17th, 2009 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain.
