Stephen P. Zilko, 72, Skilled P.C. Aviator

Photo of Stephen P. Zilko Stephen P. Zilko, age 72, of Lorain, died Tuesday Jan. 19th, 2010 at the New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph following an extended illness.

He was born in Lorain on Aug. 28, 1937 and had been a life-long resident of the city.

Steve was a graduate of Lorain High School as a member of the Class of 1956. He later went on to attend technical school where he studied electronics.

Steve joined the Lorain Products Corporation in 1964 and served as a field service technician for the company, and its successors, until the time of his retirement in 1998.

In his free time he enjoyed bowling and, despite his illness, continued to participate in the Senior Fellowship League up until November of last year. Mr. Zilko also enjoyed working with computers and was regarded as a skilled P.C. Aviator piloting a variety of simulated aircraft to various destinations across the globe via his home computer.

He was a former parishioner of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and was a member of the St. John Lodge # 228 of the First Catholic Slovak Union.

Survivors include his wife of 40 years Barbara (nee Endrizal), his son Christopher M. Zilko, his brother Leonard J. (wife Joyce) Zilko, along with a variety of nieces and nephews He was preceded in death by his father Stephen “Stefan” Zilko, by his mother Irene T. (nee Trnian) Zilko, and by his brother Edward A. Zilko.

Committal services will be conducted for family members only in Calvary Cemetery.

Memorials are encouraged to either New Life Hospice, 3700 Kolbe Road, Lorain, OH 44053 or to the Lorain Salvation Army, 2506 Broadway Avenue, Lorain, OH 44052.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel.
