Peggy J. DeCarlo, 75, Enjoyed Spending Time with her Family and Grandchildren

Peggy was born in Wheeling, West Virginia on April 26th, 1934 and had been a resident of Lorain County since 1954. She was a 1952 graduate of Tridelphia High School in Wheeling.
For many years Mrs. DeCarlo was employed as an Operator and later as a Customer Service Supervisor for the Lorain Telephone Company and its successor, Centel. She left the telephone provider in 1986 and joined Ed Mullinax Ford where she worked in the credit department; during that same period, she was employed as a Health Aide for the Home Quality Health Care Service during the evening.
A past parishioner of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Elyria Township, she served as a Brownie Troop Leader with the Erie Shores Council of the Girl Scouts, as a volunteer with Lorain County 4-H, and as a mentor for Junior Achievement.
She was a member of the Lorain Moose Lodge, a life member of the American Slovak Club, a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of American Legion Post # 30, and a member of the Knights of St. John.
In her free time she enjoyed casino junkets, spending time with her family and grandchildren, and socializing with her friends at area clubs.
She is survived by her son John Brian DeCarlo of Sheffield Township, by daughters Jeannie Rose also of Sheffield Township, and Mary Jane DeCarlo-Dorr (husband Allen) residing in Castle Rock, Colorado, by four grandchildren, four great grandchildren, sister Dorothy Tustin of West Liberty, West Virginia, and brother David Bubby Danhart of Wheeling, West Virginia, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband John DeCarlo in 1988, by her son Carl Anthony DeCarlo, by her son-in-law Leonard Rose in 2009, by her parents William and Belva (nee Hastings) Danhart, by sisters Betty Hindman, Virginia Wallace, and Marjorie Mickey Mackey, and by brothers Henry and William.
Visitation will be Friday from 5 to 9 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain. Funeral services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. in the funeral chapel with the Reverend Harry N. Croft, Pastor of Wheeling Marwin Nazarene Church presiding. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
