Rita M. Hartman, 85, Avid League Bowler
Rita M. Hartman, (nee Weber), age 85, died Wednesday Feb. 17th, 2010 at the Keystone Pointe Care Center in LaGrange.Rita was born in Lorain on Feb. 2, 1925 and had been a long-time resident of that city.
She was formerly employed as a clerk with the Nickel Plate Railroad Company.
Mrs. Hartman was a parishioner of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Elyria Township and was also a member of the Altar & Rosary Society there.
She was an active member of the Lorain County Democratic Women’s Club as well as the Ladies Auxiliary of Elmer Johnson Post # 118 of the American Legion in Amherst.
In her free time she enjoyed camping and fishing. Rita was also an avid league bowler and was proud to have compiled a 500 series in league competition.
She is survived by her sons Nicholas R. Hartman of North Olmsted, and James R. Hartman, Jr. (wife Leah) of LaGrange, a daughter Joan M. Hollan (husband Jeffrey) of Penfield Township, grandchildren Heather, Danielle, Julie, Jennifer, Nicholas, James R., III, and Jeffrey, Jr., along with a great grandchildren Liam, Malia, Gavin, Allan, Alexis, and Lorenzo..
She was preceded in death by her husband James R. Hartman, Sr. in 1994, by her father William A. Weber, Sr., by her mother Mildred Weber (nee Nestor), by a brother William A. Weber, Jr., and by sisters Eileen DeLeonardis and Dorothy.
Friends may call Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain; a rosary recited by the officers and members of the St. Vincent Altar & Rosary Society will begin the visitation. Funeral services will be Saturday beginning at 9 a.m. in the funeral chapel and will be followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 41295 North Ridge Rd., Elyria Township. The Reverend James Ols, Pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
