Clyde White, 81, Lorain Area Landlord

Photo of Clyde White Clyde White, age 81, greater Lorain area landlord, died unexpectedly Thursday in the emergency room of Community Regional Medical Center.

He was born in Wymer, West Virginia on Dec. 30, 1928 and had been a resident of Lorain since 1953 coming from West Virginia. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Korean Conflict.

Mr. White was the founder, co-owner, and landlord of White’s Rentals in Lorain; he had formerly been employed as a chemical operator for the B.F. Goodrich Corporation in Avon Lake. He was a life member of Amherst VFW Post # 1662, a life member of the Amherst Eagles Club, and a life member of the Elyria Moose Lodge. He had also formerly been affiliated with the Lake Erie Landlord’s Association.

In his free time Clyde enjoyed gardening, hunting, and swimming.

Survivors include his daughter Judy L. Szuch and her husband, Gary, residing in Lorain, granddaughter Jessica Szuch of Geneva, grandson Timothy Szuch of Lorain, and sister Wilma Jean Geary of Vermilion.

He was preceded in death by his wife Gladys (nee Bodkins) on July 7, 2009, by his son David, by his parents Arthur & Reta Mae (nee Haddix) White, by his brother Howard White and by his sister Nelda Lambert.

Visitation will be Monday February 22nd from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral chapel with the Reverend Robert Daugherty presiding. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township where military honors will be conducted by the Amherst Veterans Military Honor Guard.
