Stephanie Borowicz, 94, Enjoyed Sewing and Reading
Stephanie Borowicz (nee Kuma), age 94, of Lorain, died Tuesday March 30th, 2010 at the Golden Acres Nursing Home.She was born in Lorain on Oct. 12, 1915 and remained a life-long resident of the city. Stephanie was a graduate of Lorain High School.
Mrs. Borowicz was employed as a waitress and cashier for Sutter’s Restaurants for more than forty years. She had previously been employed by the Harshaw Chemical Company of Elyria and the Lorain Stove Works.
A former parishioner of Nativity B.V.M. Catholic Church in Lorain, her hobbies included sewing, gardening, and reading, with a special interest in contemporary novels.
Survivors include her daughters Dorothy Wisnieski of Sheffield Lake, and Margaret L. Walker of Lorain, grandsons Steven Walker, Richard Wisnieski and John Wisnieski, along with her great grandson Luke Walker.
She was preceded in death by her husband Samuel Borowicz, by her parents Andrew and Angeline (nee Bogacic) Kuma, and by a brother Theodore Kuma.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain. Funeral services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. in the funeral chapel with the Reverend Charles Keesee, Pastor of Midway Baptist Church presiding. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
The family encourages memorial contributions to the Activities Fund at Golden Acres Nursing Home, Amherst.
