Michael George Tomko, 80, Enjoyed Painting & Wood Burning Crafts

Photo of Michael George Tomko Michael George Tomko, 80, of Elyria, died Thursday April 1, 2010 at his home following a short illness.

He was born March 30, 1930 in Lorain and moved to Elyria in 1993.

Mr. Tomko served with the US Army for 2 years and was employed at US Steel in Lorain for 38 years.

He was a member of the Catholic Church of St. Peter in Lorain and enjoyed painting and wood burning crafts.

Michael is survived by his wife of 55 years Dolores “Jean” Tomko (nee Bodak), children: Michael J. Tomko (Barbara) of Lorain, David Tomko (Sandy) of Vermilion, Brian Tomko of Ocala, FL, Ronald Tomko of Lorain, Dolores Tomko of Elyria and Kenneth Tomko of Elyria, grandchildren Teresa, Steven and Donovan Tomko, all of Ocala, FL and Jillian and David Tomko Jr, both of Vermilion.

He was preceded in death by his parents Michael and Theresa Tomko.

The family will receive friends Saturday 9:30 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 10:30 a.m. at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain. The Rev. Craig Hovanec, pastor of the Catholic Church of St. Peter, 3501 Oberlin Ave., Lorain, will officiate. Private burial will be held at a later date.
