Ida M. Stavesky , 87, Librarian at Lorain Public Library

Photo of Ida M. Stavesky Ida M. Stavesky (nee Botos), 87, of Lorain, died Friday April 16, 2010 while under the care of New Life Hospice at Amherst Manor Nursing Home after an 8-year illness with Alzheimer’s Disease.

She was born Nov. 20, 1922 in Wellington, grew up in South Amherst and resided in Lorain for most of her life.

Ida graduated from South Amherst High School in 1940 and was involved in many high school activities.

Ida worked as a Librarian at the Lorain Public Library on 6th Street retiring in 1984. Prior to that she worked as a medical assistant for Dr. Francis Neff and Dr. Balunek.

She was a member of Mary Mother of God Catholic Church in Lorain and the church Women’s Guild. She also was the organist at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in South Amherst.

Ida enjoyed reading, sewing, crocheting, cooking, ceramics and bowling and had bowled for many years at Park Lanes in Amherst.

She is survived by her children Patricia Turza (Joseph) of Bullard, Texas, Kathleen Bucci (James) of Lorain, Paul G. Stavesky, Jr of Lorain, John W. Stavesky (Linda) of Hubert, North Carolina and William Stavesky (Paula) of Tamarac, Florida, 11 grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years Paul G. Stavesky, Sr on June 29, 2007, infant son Paul Joseph Stavesky, granddaughter Jill Marie Bucci, parents John and Mary Botos, sister Malvine Zahorec and brother Edward Vargo.

The family will receive friends Monday 5 - 8 p.m. at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 9 a.m. in the funeral chapel followed by the mass of Christian Burial Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. at Mary Mother of God Catholic Church, 310 8th St., Lorain. The Rev. Daniel O. Divis, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
