Mary Ann Kelley, 85, Enjoyed Dancing and Gardening

Photo of Mary Ann Kelley Mary Ann Kelley (nee Stanik), age 85, of Brownhelm Township, died peacefully on Sunday April 25th, 2010 at the New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph.

She was born in Lorain on July 4, 1924 and had been a resident of Brownhelm Township since 1968.

Mary Ann was a graduate of Lorain High School as a member of the class of 1942. She was previously employed as a production assistant with the General Industries Corporation of Elyria.

Mrs. Kelley was a parishioner of St. Mary Catholic Church in Vermilion and also of the former Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Lorain. She was a member of St. Ann’s Fraternal Lodge Branch #114.

In her free time she enjoyed dancing and spending time outdoors. Additional interests included flower gardening with a special focus on tulips.

Survivors include her nephew George Knisely, Jr. (Ruth) of Summerfield, Florida, nieces Amelia Moldovan (Richard) of Vero Beach, Florida, and Janet Knisely of Elyria, along with great nephews and great nieces, and special friends Maryann O’Leary and Jackie Flaczynski both of Vermilion.

She was preceded in death by her husband Edward in 2009, by her parents John and Mary (nee Plechan) Stanik, by her brother Stephen J. Stanik in 2003, by her sister Mildred Knisely, by two sisters in infancy, and by nephews James J. and Franklyn R. Knisely.

Calling hours will be today from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain. A Christian Wake service officiated by Sr. Claudia Bronsing will begin the visitation at 5 p.m. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday April 28th at 12:30 p.m. in St. Mary Catholic Church, 731 Exchange Street Vermilion. Please meet at the church. Reverend Francis Speier will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
