Cecilia S. Skibo, 88, Former Social Security Administration Employee
Cecilia S. Skibo (nee Pallo), 88, of Lorain, died Sunday May 2, 2010 in the emergency room at Community Regional Medical Center in Lorain after a lengthy illness.
She was born April 18, 1922 in Lorain and had been a lifelong Lorain area resident.
Cecilia was a graduate of Lorain High School class of 1940A and then attended Lorain Business College.
During World War II she worked at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton as a secretary and then worked at the Social Security Administration as a secretary retiring in 1978 after 35 years.
Cecilia was a member of St. Nicholas Byzantine Rite Catholic Church in Lorain, the church Altar & Rosary Society and the American Business Women’s Association. She volunteered at St. Joseph Hospital in Lorain, was an avid Cleveland sports fan and enjoyed traveling having visited all 50 states and several countries abroad.
She is survived by her son with whom she made her home Bruce M. Skibo of Lorain, sister Valeria Konecny of Lorain and nieces Barbara Wasco of Beaumont, California, Patricia Renz of Ft. Pierce, Florida and Karen Konecny of New Braunfels, Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband Michael Skibo on Feb. 2, 1987 and parents George and Mary Pallo (nee Randak).
The family will receive friends Wednesday 2 - 4, 7 - 9 p.m. at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain where the St. Nicholas Altar & Rosary Society will recite the rosary Wednesday at 1:45 p.m. followed by the Parastas Service Monday at 2 p.m. Panachida services will be on Thursday at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral chapel followed by the Divine Liturgy at 10 a.m. at St. Nicholas Byzantine Rite Catholic Church, 2711 W. 40th St., Lorain. The Rev. Nicholas Rachford, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
